Kirklees Democracy Commission: The Political Game (Hidden Track Theatre Company)

Tuesday 10 October 2017 at 6:30 am to 8:30 pm

How do we make decisions? Who gets to make decisions? And how do we feel when they are made?

This creative and interactive workshop will be hosted by the award winning Hidden Track Theatre Company.

The workshop uses familiar games like Scissors-Paper-Stone, Hide and Seek and Piggy in the Middle to explore how we react when the odds are stacked against us and how we change when everything is comfortably in our favour.

We’ll explore different methods of voting and group decision-making, presenting the group with various situations and looking at how we would all choose to act. We’ll see how the dynamic changes when everyone gets a vote, when people can abstain, or when decision-making power lies with just a few people.

We will see how playing with the mechanics of gameplay and the voting process can change the way people feel represented and how we can use this to instil empathy into our decision-making.

Free event. Participants need to be age 16 or over.

Event organised by Creative Scene.
