Discover Huddersfield Walks 2022

Discover Huddersfield have released details of their 2022 programme…

GUIDED WALKS PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO DISCOVER HUDDERSFIELD’S CULTURE AND HERITAGE

A programme of 20 walks through 2022 has been produced by the Discover Huddersfield partnership. The popular, themed walks, each led by experts in their field, have been growing in popularity since the partnership was formed in 2012.

There will be a choice of previous favourites including the Lion Hunt, Halloween themed ‘Shuddersfield’ and strolls around Edgerton, Birkby and Lindley, as well as new themes including Surprising Springwood, a family discovery walk and a couple of walks around Marsden, organised in conjunction with Marsden History Group. In addition, there will be free four walks organised as part of the Heritage Open Days festival in September.

The first of this season’s walks ‘The Irish in Huddersfield’ on Saturday 19 March, which will be followed by a free showing of the first ever St. Patrick’s Day event in the town.

This will be followed by The Villas of Edgerton on the 27 March led by well-known local historian, David Griffiths.

The walks’ programme 2022 leaflet is now being distributed to information points and libraries around the area as well as the Hello Huddersfield shop in Market Avenue and selected shops and cafes around the town centre, or can be viewed by going to: www.discoverhuddersfield.uk

Walks costing £4 per person (apart from those during Heritage Open Days), usually last between 1.5 – 2 hours, and can be booked through Eventbrite no more than 14 days before each walk. To view all the year’s walks, go to: www.eventbrite.com/cc/discover-huddersfield-guided-walks-programme-2022-120689

In addition, two new trails, the Textile and Greasepaint and Limelight (cinema and theatre) trails are now available, adding to the 16 free leaflets already available.
